Resume Title: How would you title a resume?
what should man write in the first part of their resume? most people just come up with a general statement such as "professional with 3 years experience", "dedicated employee seeking new challenges", "new fresh grad journey to success", "committed and hardworking manager" and many more...
I would prefer a more sound, specific, to the heart ... resulting in quoted & italic my prefered version
Original: Proficient individual with 19 years of experience in performing functions related to rigging
Revise:
"Proficient Rigging Supervisor with 19 years of experience in performing functions related to rigging"A proficient rigging supervisor with 19 years of experience, not just some unknown proficient individual
Original: I am a self motivated person.I have several years experiance of retail sales, and management.
Revised:
"Self motivated store manager with several years of experiences of retail sales and management"Yes, you're a store manager in retail industry, not just a person in general
Original: Self motivated individual seeking a challenging position within a success organization where I can contribute my skills...
Revised
"Accident free truck driver seeking a challenging position in Atlanta GeorgiaIndividual? you and me and that he or she, all individuals, that doesn't make you unique, why dont you tell people you're actually an accident free truck driver?
Which one is more specific? more inviting and call for action?
Resume summary or resume title is a like writing a brief headline for an article, it should be brief, compact and straight to the heart.
Which copy should you buy? I'll take the latter one for sure!
I would not try to exaggerate myself over the resume title, what do you have strategically, put it up front. What you think you can contribute, put it upfront. If you used to earn over 12 million dollars per year, 3 years in a row for your ex firm, put it up front! Are you proud of being a worker of your past employer, or at least, is that a famous employer in the industry, which many others are longing to work for? put that name in the title too!
Actually, there's some rule writing a title for your resume. My rule is really simple, that is "facts & figures in the title", just facts and figures will tell the reader a lot about you. Employers look for facts & figures, they want to know what the position you hold in the past, your capabilities' strength and coverage, your expertise, tell them that and get rid of less meaning words out of the title.
